La publicación británica Q Magazine confeccionó una lista con los mejores 20 solos de guitarra de la historia del rock, que es encabezada por David Gilmour de Pink Floyd, por su trabajo en la canción "Comfortably Numb", del disco "The Wall" (1979).
En segundo lugar aparece el guitarrista de Queen, Brian May, por su interpretación de "Killer Queen". En la tercera posición empatan Jimmy Page y Jimi Hendrix, por "Stairway to Heaven" y "Purple Haze", respectivamente.
