Sir Michael Gambon, actor irlandés reconocido por el popular personaje de Albus Dumbledore en la saga "Harry Potter", murió a los 82 años.

Una declaración en nombre de su esposa, Lady Gambon, y su hijo, Fergus, emitida por la publicista Clair Dobbs, decía: "Estamos devastados al anunciar la pérdida de Sir Michael Gambon".

"Amado esposo y padre, Michael murió pacíficamente en el hospital con su esposa Anne y su hijo Fergus junto a su cama, luego de un ataque de neumonía", siguió el comunicado de la familia.

"Les pedimos que respeten nuestra privacidad en este momento doloroso y les agradecemos sus mensajes de apoyo y amor", agregaron.

Gambon interpretó al profesor Albus Dumbledore en seis de las ocho películas de "Harry Potter", en reemplazo de Richard Harris, quien interpretó en las dos primeras cintas de la saga y que murió en 2002.
