Un sismo se percibió a las 13.01 de este viernes en las regiones de Valparaíso, Metropolitana y O'Higgins, el que fue calificado de "menor intensidad" por el Servicio Nacional de Prevención y Respuesta ante Desastres (Senapred).

El primer informe del Centro Sismológico Nacional (CSN), dependiente de la Universidad de Chile, cifró la magnitud en 4,1. Sin embargo, minutos más tarde fue corregido a 4,3.

El epicentro se situó a ocho kilómetros al este de Melipilla, en la Región Metropolitana.

El hipocentro, en tanto, se localizó a 74 kilómetros de profundidad.

De acuerdo al Senapred, alcanzó una intensidad de IV grados en la escala de Mercalli en comunas como San Antonio, El Monte, Peñalolén, Rancagua, Mostazal y Machalí.
