El guitarrista Thomas Miller, reconocido como Tom Verlaine y quien formó parte crucial de la escena punk neoyorquina de los años setenta el como líder del grupo de rock Television, murió el sábado a los 73 años. 

La noticia fue confirmada por la socia y expreja de Verlaine, Jesse Paris Smith, hija de Patti Smith y sobre la causa de su deceso reveló que se ocurrió "tras una breve enfermedad". 

Junto a la banda, destacó el lanzamiento de los álbumes Marquee Moon y Adventure y además, publicó varios discos en solitario tras su disolución. Una versión del tema propio "Kingdom Come" fue versionada por David Bowie, e incluida en su producción "Scary Monsters". 

"Era el mejor guitarrista de rock and roll de todos los tiempos y, como Hendrix, podía bailar desde las esferas del cosmos hasta el rock de garaje. Eso requiere una grandeza especial", escribió Mike Scott de The Waterboys en su memoria.
