El artista canadiense The Weeknd cerró su 2022 con el hito de que su éxito "Blinding Lights" pasó a ser la canción más escuchada en Spotify al superar a Ed Sheeran.

El tema lanzado a fines de 2019 superó a "Shape Of You" de Sheeran la noche del 31 de diciembre y pasó a tener el trono con la mayor cantidad de reproducciones en Spotify, con alrededor de 3.330 millones.

"Blinding Lights" ya había conseguido en 2020 ser la canción más reproducida de ese año con 1.600 millones de reproducciones. Además, el tema logró ubicarse entre los 10 primeros puestos del ránking Billboard 100 durante un año completo, algo que nunca había sucedido desde la creación de este listado en 1958.
